Your data, in plain words
Setu connects businesses and students with vetted developers in India. This page explains what we collect, why, where it lives, and how to have it removed. Last updated: 3 October 2026.
What we collect, and why
- When you post a project brief: your name, email, country, optional WhatsApp number, optional company and customer type, and the project details you write. We use them only to review your brief, match a developer, send you a quote and keep you updated.
- When you send a developer application: your name, email, city, skills, portfolio link, and optional WhatsApp number, rate and languages. We use them only to review your application and offer you projects.
- When you use the site: anonymous page-view statistics through Vercel Analytics (no advertising cookies). Your browser also keeps an unsent brief draft and a referral code in its own local storage so you don’t lose your work; you can clear these at any time in your browser settings.
Outreach to businesses
We sometimes contact businesses whose websites we think we could improve. For that we only use a business’s publicly published business contact details (for example an info@ address or a phone number on its own website or business listing), and we record where each one was published. We review every message before it is sent. If you’d rather not hear from us, reply “no thanks” to any of our emails and we’ll stop, keeping your address only on a do-not-contact list so we never email it again.
Where your data is stored and who processes it
- Supabase — our database (briefs, applications, business leads), accessible only to Setu’s admin.
- Resend — sends confirmation and notification emails.
- Vercel — hosts this website; Vercel Analytics counts page views.
- Gmail — our own mailbox for emails we send and receive.
We never sell your data and never share it with developers beyond what’s needed to do your project.
Google user data
Setu’s internal proposal tool uses Google sign-in only for Setu’s own Google account, to save proposal PDFs into that account’s Google Drive. It requests a single permission, drive.file, which lets it see and manage only the files the tool itself created — nothing else in Drive. Setu’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models; access can be removed at any time from the Google account’s security settings.
How long we keep it
Briefs and applications are kept while we’re working with you and for up to two years afterwards for our records, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Do-not-contact entries are kept so we can honour them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (UK/EU) or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act may give you further rights; we’ll honour any request we’re able to.
